Hard Fat Type 36 (S) - Cost-Effective Suppository Base for High-Volume Production
High-volume suppository lines live or die by two numbers: cost per kilogram and melt consistency. Our Hard Fat Type 36 S is built for exactly that environment. With a melting range of 35–37 °C, it pours cleanly at standard molding temperatures and sets fast enough to keep your conveyor throughput high. The S designation denotes our standard industrial grade - fully compliant with pharmacopeial identity requirements but priced for manufacturers who buy in pallet quantities and do not need the full audit-trail package of our pharmaceutical-grade line.
We know that packaging space is money, so every carton is dimensioned to interlock on a standard EUR-pallet with zero dead volume. If you are currently paying a distributor markup on a comparable base, ask us for a side-by-side sample - the melt behavior will speak for itself.

The Workhorse Grade That Keeps Your Line Running
Lowest cost per kilogram in the catalog
Direct from our production floor - no distributor markup, no trading-company margin. If you are buying a comparable 36-type base through a middleman, our per-kilogram price will pay for the switch within the first container.
Universal melting point for most formulas
Labeled 36 °C (35–37 °C range) is the industry standard for immediate-release rectal and vaginal suppositories. If your current formulation runs on a 36-type base, you can qualify ours with a minimal bridging study.
Fast solidification = high throughput
The S-grade hydroxyl profile gives a balanced 3–4 minute set at 15 °C mold temperature. On a rotary line, that translates to more cycles per shift and fewer partially-filled molds at shift change.
Stock grade = 7–10 day lead times
We maintain a 30-tonne safety stock of Type 36 S. Standing-order clients get 30-day rolling reservation at no charge, so a customs delay on one shipment never stops your production.
Suited Production Environments
Type 36 S is the workhorse grade for contract manufacturers running generic rectal suppositories, glycerin-gelatin combination bases, and veterinary dosage forms. Its 35–37 °C melting point is close enough to body temperature for reliable in vivo release, yet high enough that finished suppositories do not deform in unconditioned warehouses during summer months.
For production, the recommended melt temperature is 45–50 °C; API addition should occur at 38–42 °C to avoid thermal degradation of heat-sensitive actives. The material exhibits minimal polymorphism compared with cocoa butter, which means you will not encounter the sudden batch-to-batch solidification-time shifts that force line recalibration.
Pallet Configuration and Reorder Cadence
All goods are securely packaged for safe, reliable transit. Container loading is optimized for both standard and high-capacity containers, with the exact configuration confirmed at order confirmation.
